Tawa is the northernmost suburb of Wellington City, located 15 km away from Wellington’s central business district. Named after the broadleaf tree, the suburb is situated in a valley which opens up to the Porirua Basin. Tawa is home to a population of over 15,000, and is easily accessible by car, train, or bus; the suburb has five railway stations, as well as a bus route travelling between Porirua and Johnsonville.
Tawa’s Main Road forms the village centre of the suburb, providing a mix of shops, services, supermarkets, and eateries.
